The Punjabi music industry is mourning the death of 18-year-old Divit Auluck, son of Speed Records owner Dinesh Auluck and nephew of popular rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, who was killed in a road accident in Jalandhar in the early hours of Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Divit died alongside his friend, 19-year-old Aarav Talwar, after the Volkswagen Jetta they were travelling in crashed into a stationary Municipal Corporation garbage tractor-trolley on a flyover near the Police Lines area.
According to police reports, the accident happened at approximately 3 a.m. The vehicle was carrying five young occupants, all reportedly between 18 and 19 years old, when it struck the parked municipal vehicle. The impact left the car severely damaged.
What Happened in the Fatal Crash?
Police said the vehicle was travelling at high speed when it collided with the stationary tractor-trolley. Divit and Aarav were seated on the side of the car that sustained the heaviest impact, and both died at the scene.
The three other occupants survived, with reports indicating that they sustained minor injuries.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the collision. Reports have also raised questions about the visibility of the parked municipal vehicle and whether sufficient reflective warning markers were in place. Those concerns have not, by themselves, established responsibility for the crash.
Who Was Divit Auluck?
Divit was the son of Dinesh Auluck, managing director and owner of the prominent Punjabi music label Speed Records. He was also the nephew of rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh.
News of his death sent shockwaves through the Punjabi entertainment industry, with musicians, actors and other personalities expressing condolences to the grieving family.
Honey Singh shared an emotional message on social media, describing the loss of his nephew as devastating. Singer Jazzy B and actor-singer Gippy Grewal also paid tribute, while several entertainment industry figures visited the Auluck family in Jalandhar to offer their support.
Tributes Pour In for the Two Young Friends
The accident also claimed the life of Aarav Talwar, whose family is associated with the well-known Pappi Sweets business in Jalandhar.
Aarav’s death brought further grief to his family and friends. His final rites were reportedly conducted on Sunday, November 1.
Divit’s family arranged his final farewell for Tuesday, November 3, at the Model Town cremation ground in Jalandhar, following the expected return of his brother from Canada.
A Community Left Grieving
The deaths of Divit and Aarav have deeply affected their families and the wider Punjabi music and business communities.
For Dinesh Auluck and his family, the loss of an 18-year-old son has brought an unimaginable period of grief. Honey Singh’s public tribute reflected the pain felt by relatives and friends following the sudden tragedy.
As loved ones prepare to say their final goodbyes, the two young men are being remembered beyond the circumstances of the crash. Their deaths have also renewed attention to road safety and the dangers of high-speed driving, particularly when vehicles encounter stationary obstacles on busy roads.
The tragedy has left two families mourning lives cut short far too soon.
