Adam Robinson Obituary: Austin Tech Entrepreneur Dies at 45 Alongside Wife and Two Young Children in Florida Learjet Crash

The technology and business communities are mourning the tragic death of Adam Robinson, a successful Austin-based entrepreneur who was among nine people killed when a private Learjet crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

Robinson, 45, died alongside his wife, Helen Sharp, 40, their two young children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, as well as their nanny and family friends. The aircraft was travelling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it crashed near Greenacres, Florida, killing everyone aboard.

The devastating accident has sent shockwaves through the technology industry and left family members, friends, colleagues and business associates struggling to comprehend the sudden loss of an entire young family.

Robinson was widely recognised for his work as a technology founder and business leader, having established companies that helped businesses identify website visitors and improve their marketing and customer acquisition strategies.

A successful entrepreneur and technology founder

Adam Robinson built a reputation as an ambitious entrepreneur in the technology and marketing industries.

He was the founder and chief executive of Retention.com, a company focused on helping e-commerce businesses identify anonymous website visitors and turn them into potential customers.

He was also associated with RB2B, another technology business that developed tools to help companies identify business visitors and improve their sales processes.

Through his entrepreneurial ventures, Robinson became a recognised voice among startup founders, particularly those interested in building profitable companies without relying heavily on outside investment.

His professional journey reflected years of determination, experimentation and business development. Rather than following a conventional corporate path throughout his career, he pursued opportunities in technology and eventually established companies that attracted attention across the marketing and software industries.

For colleagues and fellow entrepreneurs, his death represents the loss of a businessman whose work had influenced conversations about entrepreneurship, business growth and the future of digital marketing.

Family tragedy leaves loved ones devastated

Perhaps the most heartbreaking aspect of the tragedy is that Robinson did not die alone. His wife and their two children were also aboard the aircraft.

Helen Sharp was an accomplished entrepreneur in her own right. She had served as chief executive and founding partner of Influential PR before pursuing a ceramics business.

The couple’s children, Emma and Charlie, were just four and two years old.

Their nanny, Anita Maria Cetina, also lost her life in the crash. The other passengers were identified as Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, friends of the family.

In a joint statement, the families described Robinson and Sharp as devoted parents and said their children were the light of their lives.

They also remembered Reed and Fehr for their love of adventure, while describing Cetina as someone who cared for the children with tenderness and devotion and had become part of the family.

What happened in the Florida Learjet crash?

The Learjet 60 departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Sunday morning, November 1, bound for North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

The aircraft crashed near Greenacres in Palm Beach County shortly before noon local time.

Dashcam footage captured the terrifying final moments as the aircraft descended rapidly towards the ground before erupting into a fireball. The footage subsequently circulated widely on social media.

All nine people aboard were killed. One person on the ground suffered a leg injury.

Preliminary information released by the National Transportation Safety Board indicated that the pilots had reported ice accumulating on the aircraft and moderate turbulence while flying at approximately 35,000 feet.

The crew subsequently requested permission to climb to a higher altitude. Less than 30 seconds later, the pilots reported that the aircraft was descending rapidly and declared an emergency.

Investigators also disclosed that the aircraft was experiencing an overspeed condition before the crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the circumstances surrounding the disaster. The precise cause has not been established, and investigators have cautioned against speculation while the examination continues.

A lasting legacy in the technology industry

Robinson’s professional legacy extends beyond the companies he founded. He became an influential figure among entrepreneurs who believed in building sustainable businesses through innovation, discipline and independent thinking.

His work in marketing technology helped businesses develop new approaches to identifying potential customers and understanding online consumer behaviour.

His sudden death is a devastating loss for the Austin business community and the wider technology sector.

For those who worked with him, learned from him or followed his entrepreneurial journey, his passing represents the loss of a businessman whose influence reached beyond the companies he established.

Remembering Adam Robinson

As tributes continue to emerge, the focus remains on the family and friends left behind by the devastating accident.

The families of the passengers have expressed gratitude to first responders, investigators and members of the Palm Beach County community who offered assistance following the crash. They have also requested privacy as they navigate an unimaginable period of grief.

Adam Robinson will be remembered for his entrepreneurial ambition, contributions to the technology industry and, above all, his role as a husband and father.

His death at 45, alongside his wife and two young children, has turned what was meant to be a family journey into an extraordinary tragedy.

May Adam Robinson, Helen Sharp, Emma, Charlie and everyone who lost their lives in the crash rest in peace.
